Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is one of the most popular holiday destinations for travel within Germany. It borders Poland to the east, Brandenburg to the south, Schleswig-Holstein to the west and the Baltic Sea to the north. Although it is a rather large federal state in terms of area, MV has just 1.6 million inhabitants. This makes Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the least densely populated state in Germany. The state capital is Schwerin, but the largest city is Rostock. Other larger cities include Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Stralsund, Greifswald and Wismar.
Most people live in these cities. The rural regions are sparsely populated, but offer many attractive destinations with numerous national parks.
