Hessen

Hessen is located in central Germany and is known for its forests and its state capital Wiesbaden, which was once a Roman spa. But Mainz, with its 1,000-year-old cathedral on the other bank of the Rhine, is also a popular tourist destination. Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in the state and is characterised by its many skyscrapers. Especially here, living is expensive, so that single parents often have difficulties finding affordable housing on their own. Hessen, especially its southern part, is one of the most densely populated and economically strongest regions in Germany.
